What to do when you have an accident at work

Occasionally accidents do happen in the workplace, there are many different reasons for these from simply not paying due care and attention or it can be for other reasons such as bad health and safety awareness on part of your employer. Some lines of work are actually incredibly dangerous and if there are any potential areas where a worker or member of the public could injure themselves then as an employer they are responsible for either correcting the issue or making the hazard known via signs or notifications.

There are a lot of ways in which accidents can occur in the workplace where the employer is responsible and the employee could be entitled to compensation. Some situations include defective machinery or machinery that is dangerous because it is poorly maintain or doesn’t have the necessary safety features.

Another common cause for a workplace accident claim is slips and falls, these can happen in many different businesses from an office environment to a factory one. A lot of areas are not often considered as potential hazards but other features of the workplace that the employers are responsible for are: the temperature, how well ventilated the workplace is, the car park and even the lighting.
