New Regulations Speed Up Road Traffic Accident Claim Process
Plans by the Ministry of Justice to streamline the process of making a low cost road traffic accident claim, which were announced last September have come to fruition. New regulations aimed at speeding up the entire process will take effect at the end of April. This will come as welcome news for those victims who typically have to wait many months to discover the outcome of their accident claim. In order to allow victims to move on from their injury and the accident, compensation will now be awarded as quickly as possible.
The new procedure dictates that the road traffic accident claim compensation is paid out to the victim as early as possible. In the past, victims often struggled financially as a result of having to miss work due to their injuries. The new rules will mean that they will not have to worry about finances because they will receive their compensation quickly.
Because the new system is simpler, the victim is placed under less stress. Insurers and solicitors will now be able to take advantage of a web portal permitting the quick and safe transfer of information about the claim.
In the past, establishing liability could take weeks or months. However, fixed time limits are an important part of the new regulations. Now, once liability has been admitted, a claim can be approved within just 30 days.
This new procedure will apply to any road traffic accident claim with a value of anywhere between one and ten thousand pounds. The Ministry of Justice believes that the new procedure, with its fixed cost structure and rigid time frames will be of benefit to the victims. The main reasons why it would benefit victims are the reduction in waiting time and the simplicity of the accident claim procedure which would reduce stress on victims at an already traumatic time.
