How to be sure that you don't have any leaks in your roof

As the rain and the snow of winter season comes closer most people have to seriously start thinking about their roof. The roof is really an essential part of your home that everybody can't live without. But it really is overlooked by so many people. The time that people do eventually take notice is when it finally needs repairs or has to be replaced.  But with the winter coming people can't afford to wait for that.So here are a couple of ways you can use to check to find out if yuo have a leak in your roof.

The first thing you have to be able to know is whether the spot was caused by condensation or a leak.  We get calls all the time for my Poway roofing company for people who think they have a leak. But the moment we do get out there what we see is that it was a condensation stain instead of a leak. The quick way to see if it is condensation is you will see it doesn't have a design. Now when it really is a leak it will create a circular shape. So if the spot you see has a circular shape you know you have a leak.

The next thing you want to do is check weak spots on the roof.Places that are known weak spots are areas like the chimney where it leaks a lot there.  In our Vista roofing service we always check those areas because it is so common that it leaks there.  It is an easy fix by just making sure you seal that area.

Finally you want to check for points on the roof where a nail has penetrated.  So often when people are nailing the roof in that those nail spots don't get sealed.  This is the cause of leaks that we find in my Encinitas roofing service. This is another simple fix you can do by finding it then sealing it.

So there you have the ways you can make sure you don't have a leak this coming winter.
