Huge Penalties Facing Web Hosting Fraudsters

Four North Texans who face charges of cybercrime conspiracy have been found in Cancun, Mexico after fleeing from the United States. They had been indicted the previous week by a Dallas federal grand jury and then made the decision to flee the country.

They were part of a nineteen strong group who were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud in a huge cybercrime ring. This had been going on from March 2003 right up to July 2009 according to US attorney Mr. James Jacks. It was alleged by some telecom companies that Mr. Michael Faulkner and other companies on his servers were not paying for VOIP (voice over internet protocol) services or for web hosting. It was also alleged that some of the individuals involved were using fake id in order to obtain some services and goods.

In order to procure items such as office space, generators and computer racks, these individuals were creating fake companies which would conceal the true owner's identities and any relationships between these conspirators.

Mr. Faulkner fled the United States with his wife in order to try to avoid prosecution. Suggestions are that they were the main leaders in this crime ring. But they did not flee alone and were arrested in Mexico along with Jason and William Watts.

Now not only is Faulkner facing charges for cybercrime conspiracy, but he is also being accused of destroying evidence, obstructing justices, hiding assets and threatening a witness. Falsely registering a domain name is yet another charge.

There are huge penalties facing Faulkner if convicted of these crimes. The conspiracy charge alone holds a maximum fine of million and a prison sentence of up to thirty years. A fine of up to 0,000 is the maximum for both obstruction charges with twenty years in prison. And there could be a further seven years in prison if convicted of registering a domain name falsely with a felony.

Whenever you make your decision to enter the big, bad world of internet marketing, you should really have web hosting dealt with beforehand. Newbie's can find, though, that the web hosting world can be rather confusing. An example of this could be coming across reseller web hosting or even linux web hosting on your travels.
