The crucial role lighting plays in photography

One very important aspect of photography is the lighting.  There is a lot of emphasis placed on the tools used with regards to shooting photos.  Or there is a lot of talk with regards to some techniques for taking quality pictures.  But there is probably none more important then knowing how light affects the photographs you take.  So in this article we are going to take a look how big a factor light is in making or breaking your photos.

First of all there is lighting called hard light. This is the light that comes directly from the sun when it is not obscured.  What this type of lighting produces are either very bright parts of the photos.  Or it can create very dark portions on the photos.  This is very important when talking photos like weddings. Because a single instance of bad lighting can destroy a lot of photos. Understanding this has helped me in my San Diego photographer service.

Next there is a type of lighting that they call soft light. This is usually produced by cloudy days and are usually smooth with not too many shadows.  You can take advantage of this type of lighting to produce great quality photos. The main reason for this is because it allows the many colors to come out vividly on film.  This works very well for commercial type of photos similar to the clients I have worked for in my San Diego corporate  photographer service.

Finally, you can take advantage of artificial lighting to shoot your photos. This is the lighting such as the lights you would use in a photo studio. This is very nice for taking those family portraits because you can manipulate the lights to suit your needs in relation to your picture.  This has served my well in my event photography San Diego service.

As you have observed, the role of lighting in photography can greatly enhance your picture.  If you understand what they are for and how to best utilize them, you will produce top quality photos.
