The Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417) Working Holiday visa answers the need of young people to make some money while traveling. This program suits you if you hold a passport from one of the following countries: Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom. You must be 18 to 30 years of age. As long as you apply before reaching 31, you will be eligible, even if your visa is confirmed after you have passed that age.

You may enter Australia within 12 months from the visa's issue date. Then, you may stay there for 12 more months. You cannot work for one employr for a period exceeding 6 months. Studying is allowed for no more than 4 months. Leaving and re-entering Australia is granted as well, so you might want to take a little excursion to New-Zealand (I recommend it! or spend a little time at home. If you've completed 88 days of work in designated areas (usually rural), you may extend the visa for 12 more months.

Visa 462: Work and Holiday visa: Almost identical to the 417 visa discussed above, for people from the following countries: Chile, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and the USA. Bangladesh has signed in with the program, but is not yet included in effect. Again, eligible applicants are people aged 18-30 who wish to earn a little extra while traveling in Australia. You may enter Australia within 3 months from visa's confirmation date, then you have 12 months for travel. An employer may hire you for no more than 6 months. Unfortunately, no extensions are allowed.

The subclass 457 visa: Temporary business (long stay) standard business sponsorship: Passed your 31st birthday? Or maybe you want a longer period in Australia? The temporary business sponsorship visa may be the solution for you. You will need to find an Australian sponsor, someone who needs you to work for him and will fill out the application. This visa is valid for up to 4 years. Leaving and re-entering Australia in allowed. You should look up Australian salary rates, as the Australian law obligates your employer to pay a market-based salary. You will be asked to participate in skills assessments or language tests.
